Layer Mash

RunoFeeds Layer mash is a complete, balanced feed formulated for laying hens (layers). It’s typically fed from point-of-lay through peak production and maintenance of egg production. The goal is to supply energy, high-quality protein, calcium and other minerals/vitamins needed for good egg production, eggshell quality and hen health.

Typical ingredient formulation (example per 1 kg)

A practical, all-purpose layer mash formula (can be adjusted by ingredient availability):

• Maize (ground) — 560 g

• Soybean meal (48% CP) — 220 g

• Wheat bran — 80 g

• Fish meal — 30 g

• Limestone (coarse or fine, depending on system) — 75 g

• Bone meal — 10 g

• Vegetable oil — 10 g

• Salt (NaCl) — 3 g

• Vitamin-mineral premix — 5 g

• DL-Methionine (synthetic) — 1 g

• L-Lysine (synthetic) — 1 g

• Choline source — 5 g

Total = 1000 g (1 kg)

Typical nutrient specifications (target ranges)

• Crude protein: 16.0 – 18.0% (layers in lay: ~16–17% commonly used)

• Metabolizable energy (ME): 2700 – 2900 kcal/kg

• Calcium (Ca): 3.5 – 4.5% (often 3.8–4.2% during peak lay)

• Available phosphorus (Av. P): 0.40 – 0.55%

• Lysine: 0.70 – 0.90%

• Methionine + Cystine: 0.55 – 0.75%

• Sodium (Na): ~0.15–0.20% (depends on salt level)

• Vitamin/mineral premix: supplies required vitamins A, D3, E, K, B-complex and trace minerals (Zn, Mn, Cu, Fe, Se, I).
